There have been rumblings about problems at Suvarnabhumi Airport ever since it opened back in September. Most of the problems, be they with the runway or with airport equipment, end up being blamed upon the previous regime and alledged corruption in the awarding of contracts associated with the construction of the new airport.Last week it was annonced that the International Civil Aviation Authority had refused to grant Suvarnabhumi Airport a safety certificate (although to be fair apparently it does not need one).
The government has now ordered the Airports of Thailand Plc to prepare for the re-opening of the Don Muang airport for the non-transit domestic flights pending the repair of taxiways and runways of the Suvarnabhumi International Airport.
