15th October it is

At last a date has been set for the rerun of Thailands elections. I hope that the pending court cases can be resolved as quickly as possible to give a clear run in to the new elections. Then lets hope that all the parties participate in the elections and that everyone accepts the results

Is this date anything to do with the elections for the replacement of Kofi Annan as Secretary General at the UN ? Thailands deputy PM and foreign minister is supposed to be in the running for this according to the Independent.

I doubt it is connected although i have been unable to ascertain the date for the election although it will clearly need to take place before the end of the year

You are correct about the candidate from Thailand - a full list can be seen here http://www.unsg.org/candidates.html
